Short Course on Ductile Iron Metallurgy in San Nicolas, Argentina

The activity took place at the metallon office. Jorge Madias and Marcelo Roque Valentini were the lecturers.

Foundrymen from Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Entre Rios attended. The course outline included raw materials, melting in induction furnace, cupola and EAFs, desulfurization, nodulization and inoculation, design of gates and risers, relationship between chemistry, microstructure and properties, heat treatment and specifications. Several practical issues deserved detailed discussion by instructors and attendants.
