Study of Macroinclusions in Billets and Machined Parts

metallon consultants carried out the study of billet samples and machined parts to identify the analysis and the origin of macroinclusions.

The samples were observed by means of a stereo microscope and a light microscope; then, global and point EDS analysis were carried out in an SEM. Taking into account these data, as well as process information, it was possible to define the origin of the inclusions and recommend measures to avoid their occurrence.
